Songwriting is a skill, not a line in some dusty dictionary.
This is a WORKSHOP. This is not about long lists of garbage snare drum patterns. It’s about improving YOUR songwriting chops.
Each module, you will learn a bunch of new techniques that you will be able to test and practice in a long list of assignments for that week.
These assignments could be anything from answering a buzzfeed-type quiz, finding your newly-learned techniques in your favorite songs or co-writing something that sounds „in awe“.
Most of all, there will be a lot of guided writing, starting with one bar, moving up to 4, to whole sections and finally an entire song.
…in other words, all exercises are designed to be fun and as closely tied to actual songwriting as humanly possible!
Even better, you will get SPECIFIC FEEDBACK on your exercises so you know where you went wrong and how to improve.
Hear The Difference.
How often have you worked on a song and thought „I don’t know what’s good any more. Everything sounds the same to me“?
Your most important tool as a songwriter is… can you guess?
It’s not your music theory. It’s not your toolset. It’s not your sample library.
…it’s your ears. It’s what you hear in your head before you try it out. The more options you can try out in your head, the quicker you’ll find a good fit.
This course is not just about pumping you full of new information. I want you to FEEL and HEAR the difference. I want to help you build a warehouse of emotions, both simple and complex, that you can access at any point.
I want to teach you how to listen to a guitar track and imagine what a band arrangement would sound like.
I want you to be able to hear and identify the subtle differences that differentiate a simple song from a world-wide hit.
Holistic Songwriting Academy is not just about teaching you the cliches and popular patterns (and we will do that, too), it’s about teaching you the principles for creating your own.
And if you’ve ever wondered why some songs sound well-balanced and enjoyable while others are disordered and unpleasant, I will teach you that, too.
